About The Artist
Jacques Lowe (1930-2001) was best known for his best role as U.S. President John F. Kennedy official photographer during his election campaign presidency. Lowe was born in Cologne, Germany. He moved to New York in 1949 and started working as Arnold Newman's assistant in 1951. Lowe began working as Kennedy's campaign photographer in 1958, and documented the Kennedy administration after his election until 1962.
After working for the Kennedy campaign, the Kennedy White House, and the Kennedy family, Lowe has authored six books and produced numerous exhibitions across the USA and Moscow. He has also created several prime time television shows and approximately 150 major magazine pieces and covers. Reviewers have credited Lowe with keeping alive the Kennedy flame for generations to come thanks to his "natural, warm, and intimate images of the president and his family and the workings of the presidency." After his work at the Kennedy White House, Lowe returned to his studio in New York where he resumed his magazine, advertising, and corporate photography work. His clients included AT&T, Hertz Cars, DuPont, and United Airlines among others. He received numerous gold and silver art director's awards for his commercial work.
