About The Artist
Henri Plaat (1936-2023, Netherlands) was a versatile artist who mastered painting and filmmaking. He studied at Kunstnijverheidschool, where he learned drawing and various graphic techniques. Before working as a topographic designer, he attended the Rietveld Academy in the mid-1950s. In the early 1960s, Plaat concentrated on painting using watercolor and gouache, in which he depicted the landscape of the Greek island in an artistically abstract way. In 1966 he started to make short fiction films and traveloques. Plaat was inspired by his travels and aimed to capture the unique atmosphere of exotic locations through his art. His landscapes evoke a sense of mystery and unexplored places.
