About The Artist
Seth Winegar is an oil painter from Utah whose art mainly depicts the land. Born in 1974 in West Bountiful, he began painting in oils at an early age and has been painting professionally for over two decades. Despite being born with cystic fibrosis, Seth began his formal art training by studying with wildlife painter Michael Coleman, and later attending workshops and classes at the Scottsdale Artist’s School, Utah State University, and with other renowned artists. Seth's work is characterized by deep, rich, thick oil strokes that capture the nuances of the scene, particularly the play of light and shadow, warm and cool tones, and dramatic and diminutive elements. He creates seductive landscapes that are freshly vivacious, with tonal rhythms and movements. His goal is to attain immediate intimacy and capture the spirit of the scene. In 2006, Seth received a double lung and liver transplant in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and since then, he has continued to paint as a respected Utah artist. He believes that painting is instinctual, much like breathing, and he likes to explore the small subtleties of life. Through his work, Seth aims to capture the beauty of nature and inspire others to appreciate it as well.
