About The Artist
Calvin Liang, born in Canton, China, is a highly regarded artist trained at the prestigious Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts. Initially working in set design for the Canton Opera Institute, he moved to the United States in 1987, embarking on a successful career in animation with studios like Walt Disney and Nickelodeon, contributing to projects like The Little Mermaid and SpongeBob SquarePants. Choosing to focus on fine art from 2002, Liang has earned significant recognition, winning numerous awards including the Irvine Museum Award and The Lifetime Achievement Award at the Laguna Beach Plein Air Painting Invitational. Featured on the covers of art magazines like Art of the West and American Art Collector, and in full feature articles, Liang's work has solidified his status as a leading contemporary artist, also being selected for the Masters of the American West Fine Art Exhibition at the Autry National Center.
