About The Artist
I grew up in Racine, Wisconsin, and began painting intensively at the age of 13 using my mother’s oils. I attended the University of Wisconsin—Madison, earning a BA in Art History with a concentration in studio sculptural ceramics.
Following graduation I returned to Racine where I was a ceramics instructor and exhibited ceramic sculpture in the Midwest. Soon after I moved to Chicago and switched to painting, experimenting with new techniques and exhibiting at various galleries and museums. In 2006 I moved to Rhode Island where I continued to paint, expanding to again include sculpture as well as woodworking and metal work while refining my painting techniques. I exhibited in Illinois from Rhode Island but the size of my paintings and difficulty in transport pushed me to concentrate on New England.
In all my art, from the beginning to now, I work as a narrative abstract expressionist with elements of story driving my work as I continually explore different forms of expression. My base for this work is my studio at 80 Fountain St, Pawtucket, where my focus is lately on environmental preservation. To my mind, beauty is most intense in the natural world, but increasingly that requires work to protect and preserve.
