Kathy Elliott
Kathy Elliott was born in New Mexico, studied Mathematics at Oklahoma State University, and taught high school math for over thirty years. Math shaped her thinking—the structure, problem-solving, and challenges over the years. The aftermath was unexpected as Kathy became the student, awakening a passion for creating art while immersing herself in the newfound freedom of picking up a paintbrush or drawing tool and seeing how the structure of mathematics easily transferred to the canvas or paper in more abstract ways. Although she does not have a formal art degree, Kathy acknowledges she is not a self-taught artist and gives credit to the many classes and mentors who have encouraged her along the artist path.
Kathy's artistic journey has been marked by numerous accolades, establishing her as an award-winning artist. She currently operates studios in Bozeman, Montana, and Garland and McKinney, Texas, where she continues to create and inspire.
About The Artist
I am an abstract painter in Bozeman, Montana, and Dallas, Texas. I am inspired by nature's vast beauty as well as the bustle of city life. I blend pure abstraction with hints of landscapes or architectural structures, sometimes still-life objects, or gestures of figures. Mathematics is my background, and intuitively, I use problem-solving and geometry as shapes and lines are placed within a rectangular or square surface. I work with various mediums, including oil, acrylic, and drawing.
