About The Artist
Born in 1968 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and raised in Tempe, Arizona, Johanna Harmon's artistic journey began at age seven. However, it was only in her twenties that she immersed herself in the traditional art language at institutions like the Scottsdale Artists’ School in Arizona, the Fechin Art Institute in New Mexico, and the Art Students League of Denver in Colorado. There, she studied under notable artists like Carolyn Anderson, John Asaro, and Daniel Sprick, embracing diverse artistic philosophies. Harmon's art, recognized with multiple awards including two Gold Medals from Oil Painters of America (OPA), has been exhibited at prestigious venues like the Portrait Society of America and the OPA. Her work is internationally collected and featured in various publications. She has been an influential educator, teaching workshops across the U.S. and drawing inspiration from masters like John Singer Sargent and Joaquin Sorolla. After 21 years in Colorado, Harmon recently returned to Arizona with her husband Steven, celebrating over a quarter-century together.
