Allison Green

Allison Green was born in Philadelphia and grew up in a nearby rural suburb. Throughout her childhood Green lived on the periphery of a lush forest, an experience which has greatly impacted the art she is best known for today. Currently Green resides and works in downtown Jersey City, where she creates large-scale oil paintings intertwining themes from nature, such as the forest and the tree. Her work has been included in exhibitions throughout the New York City area including The Newark Museum, The Angel Oransanz Center, and most recently at Lana Santorelli Gallery in Chelsea. Green holds a BA from the University of Maryland with a concentration in Fine Art and Women's Studies. She also studied at Studio Art Centers International (SACI) in Florence, Italy in 1995. Her classmates there included Guillermo Calzadilla and Jennifer Allora, who are representing the US at the 2011 Venice Bienale.
