Alexander Aleksandrovich Filbert
About The Artist
Alexander Alexandrovich Filbert (1911-1996) was a well known Soviet and Ukrainian painter and teacher. From 1931 to 1939 he studied at the Kyiv Art Institute under the guidance of Professor F. G. Krichevsky. He was accepted into the Union of artists of the USSR, and after graduating he moved to Lugansk, where he became a teacher of special disciplines at the Luhansk Art College. Many of his students went on to receive the title of Honored and People’s Artist of the USSR (Ukraine). He created the the Donbass branch of the Union of artists of the USSR and for many years was in charge of it. In 1957, he acted as the delegate of the 1st Congress of Soviet artists. His paintings were exhibited at more than 50 international and domestic exhibitions.
