About the Item: "The Presence" is an original graphite drawing created by Cynthia Torroll. This is a meditation on meditation. It took the artist two months and two days to draw this piece. Torroll states "Meditating is such a weird experience when you become aware that some presence is noting what you are thinking and feeling. Is it you or some separate presence? Is that presence universal or unique to each of us? If you're watching the watcher is something else watching? Is it like a fun house mirror?" The artist signed this piece in the lower left. It is framed to archival standards with museum glass, housed in a white gold moulding. Artwork Size: 22 5/8" x 23 1/2" Frame Size: 28 5/8" x 28 3/8"

"I cannot remember a time when I wasn't drawing or creating. It's a daily practice and necessity for me. Due to crippling agoraphobia, I left college, so everything I've done is either self-taught or learned on the job. I spent 45 years in corporate America as a commercial artist all the while pursuing my own personal visions, some of which you'll see here. I have always been fascinated by the human state - the odd duality of being both physical and ephemeral simultaneously. This is my core inspiration and obsession. Since high school most of my work has been done with pencil. Now in my mid-60's I'm experimenting with collage, video and other media."
