About the Item: (Sorry for the reflections from the varnish.) A beautiful Impressionist still life, channeling Cezanne more than a little, by Bika Tsaava (Republic of Georgia, former Soviet Union). It is oil on paper, on a large sheet of heavy fine art paper that you can trim to whatever size you wish for framing - the sheet in its entirety is 30" x 22" but you will want to remove much of this and leave a border or add a mat. Bika Tsaava was born in 1965, and grew up around art. His grandfather was a sculptor who instructed him in drawing, painting and sculpture for hours each day, and Bika served as his grandfather's full-time apprentice by age 16. At eighteen he attended the Tbilisi Teacher's Training College, earning a BA in drawing and painting. He then became a professor at the school. In his short career in Soviet Georgia, Bika excelled in broad and diverse artistic pursuits, including work at the Factory of Ceramic Artifice and as head designer at the publicity firm Sakuachrobreklama. Bika, his wife and their child moved to the U.S. in 1991. Bika began working as a clay sculptor at the Factory of Ceramic Artifice and joined the Deljou Art Group. His art can be found in private and corporate collections across the U.S., including that of United Parcel Service and ABC (American Broadcasting Corporation), as well as international collections.
