Spacewalk

Paulo Canilhas is an artist whose work primarily centers on painting and installations, with a strong emphasis on drawing and aluminum sculpture, his preferred medium for three-dimensional creations. His artistic process is deeply rooted in hands-on craftsmanship, where the use of tools and raw materials is integral to his creative expression. From 2011 to 2013, Canilhas completed the Advanced Course of Plastic Arts at AR.CO – Center of Art and Visual Communication, an experience that played a pivotal role in shaping his artistic approach. He has also participated in various workshops across different visual arts disciplines, further broadening his skill set. Canilhas spent a year in an Artistic Residency in the studio of sculptor António Júlio and later worked as a Curator’s Assistant in a Lisbon gallery, experiences that enriched his understanding of both the creative and curatorial aspects of the art world. A significant milestone in his career was the "All-Around" exhibition in Loures in 2015, which marked a turning point in his creative process, influencing the direction and execution of his subsequent projects.
