Sol LeWitt (1928–2007) was an influential American artist known for his pioneering role in the development of minimalism and conceptual art. Born in Hartford, Connecticut, LeWitt studied at Syracuse University and served in the U.S. Army before moving to New York City, where he worked as a graphic designer and later found inspiration in the city's vibrant art scene.
