About The Artist
Enrico Baj (1924–2003) was an Italian painter, sculptor, and printmaker associated with the avant-garde movements of the 20th century. Born in Milan, Baj was a prominent figure in the development of the Nuclear Art movement, which critiqued the dangers of nuclear weapons through art. He also participated in the development of Surrealist and Dadaist aesthetics, often incorporating elements of satire and political commentary into his work. Baj's art was characterized by its bold colors, provocative imagery, and use of collage and assemblage techniques. Throughout his career, he experimented with various mediums and styles, including abstract and figurative art. His innovative approach to art and his engagement with socio-political themes established him as a significant figure in 20th-century European art.
