About the Item: This charming painting by Russian painter Evgeny Grichuk features costuming related to two stock characters from commedia dell'arte, with origins in the late seventeenth-century Italian troupe of players performing in Paris known as the Comédie-Italienne: Pierrot (the clown), a character of pantomime, and a harlequin, a "zanni" or comic servant character. A fanciful, happy, theatrical painting, with wonderful use of a purposely limited palette. Framed and ready to hang.
