Since purchased by Allan Stypeck in 1974, Second Story Books has grown from its small second floor location in northwest Washington, D.C., to become one of the largest used and rare bookstores in the world. During the pre-internet era of bookselling, Second Story Books had six locations from Alexandria to Baltimore, including the famous Georgetown Saville Bookstore location. With the growth of the internet, Second Story Books consolidated its brick-and-mortar presence into our two locations.

About the Item: Oil paint on board, ca. 20th century. In Very Good Minus condition in Good gilt wooden frame. Painting measured w. 10.5 in. x h. 7 in. housed in a w. 17 in. by h. 14 in. frame. Gilt ornamentation chipped in multiple places along frame, painted over on right side near painting. Small fingerprint of dark blue pigment to white cloud on left hand side, presumably from artist while painting dried.Tape and residue to back of board. Ink inscription on back reads "Near Milford Surrey," pencil illegible. Item no. P044. EH consignment. Signed in lower left corner, partially covered by frame. Shelved in Rockville
