Since purchased by Allan Stypeck in 1974, Second Story Books has grown from its small second floor location in northwest Washington, D.C., to become one of the largest used and rare bookstores in the world. During the pre-internet era of bookselling, Second Story Books had six locations from Alexandria to Baltimore, including the famous Georgetown Saville Bookstore location. About the Item: Watercolor and gouache on paper. In Very Good condition in a Very Good Minus gilt and wood frame. Exposed painting measures w. 7 in. by h. 5 in. Frame measures w. 12.5 in. by h. 10 in. Gilted plaster on frame has chips along ornamentation, repaired in parts with gold paint by a previous owner. Cardboard backing secured with nails. Minor soiling to inside of glass, painting unaffected. Signed by artist in lower left corner. Item no. P023. EH consignment. Shelved Dupont.
