About The Artist
Benjamin Mundara was born on December 15, 1964 in Masvingo province. He went to school from 1970 to 1984 where he enjoyed drawing and woodworking. Until 1990 he worked as a teacher and fishing manager, drawing and doing craft work on the side. That year he met Gladman Zinyeka who introduced him to sculpting and took him on as a helper. After 2 years he had made his own piece and started to work on his own. He has exhibited in the National Gallery of Zimbabwe, in Germany, Australia, and the United States. He carves human figures, abstracts and birds. He mainly works with springstone, steatite, verdite, cobalt and opal. Benjamin is married with two boys. "I look forward to doing more exhibitions."
