A wonderfully accomplished pastel of a woman lost in thought, with a subtle sensuality about it. She has not been idealized into a classical trope, but is a real person, we can tell. Has she lost a lover, or is she feeling nostalgia for her childhood? This came out of the New Orleans estate of an eminent judge, but sadly, the name of the artist is lost. The pastel is signed, but not clearly enough to make out the artist. At any rate, a beautifully evocative work of art by a truly talented artist.
