My name is Guy Lyman, and I’ve been learning about, making and collecting art since my teens. These days, in addition to painting, I search the world for superb art that is undervalued and pass the savings on to discerning collectors. I offer a money-back guarantee on everything I sell.
Charles Collins is a true Renaissance man. From a family of New Orleans artists, he chose to pursue a career as a pathologist, attending medical school in New Orleans and becoming part of a successful practice. However, he is also an accomplished painter and writer (currently working on his third book of fiction). His paintings show the influence of his late mother’s mid-century style, but also (as he explains it) his many years of examining slides of human cells and tissue. This wonderful painting "The Prince" shows Collins' typical conflation of abstraction and representation. It measures 11" x 14”, a standard canvas size that is very easy to find a modestly-priced frame of your choice for online if you do not want to go the custom route.

Alfred Charles Jerome Collins, commonly known as Charles Collins, was born in Hampstead in 1851. His father, George Edward Collins, was a painter and etcher. From a young age, Charles began creating artwork, focusing primarily on landscapes featuring cattle and figures. He studied at the West London School of Art but soon felt that the institution was hindering his artistic style. By 1876, Collins was residing at Sherwood House on Arundel Road in Dorking, where he married Georgiana Waddingham at St. Martin's Church. The couple had nine children, many of whom appeared in his paintings. Two of his sons went on to become painters themselves. Collins gained recognition for his watercolor and oil paintings, particularly his figures, rustic scenes, and genre works.
