About The Artist
John Barthe is an abstract artist based in New Orleans. A self-taught painter, he has successfully sold numerous works to collectors from Los Angeles to New York and everywhere in between. Recently, a local bank purchased ten of his original paintings, which now grace their corporate office. While John typically works with acrylics, he has recently begun experimenting with oil pastels, crayons, and mixed media, including over 100-year-old wallpaper he discovered at a relative's home in the French Quarter. His current favorite living artist is the Irish painter Brian Harte, who reminds him of another admired Irish artist, Francis Bacon. John is also a huge fan of Caravaggio and his masterful use of light, showcasing his eclectic tastes.
