About the Item: Original copper plate etching, ink on paper. In Very Good condition in a Very Good frame. Etching measures w. 5.5 in. by h. 2.5 in. Frame measures w. 10.6 in. by h. 7.75 in. Minimal wear to frame. Etching has been trimmed around edges to fit frame, though plate is complete. Minor agetoning and soiling consistent with age. Artist's signature stamped in lower left corner. Item no. L002. EH consignment. Shelved Dupont.

Born in Prague, Hollar traveled across Europe and eventually settled in England, where he became associated with the Earl of Arundel, a prominent art patron. His works, particularly of London, the Rhine, and Flemish landscapes, are admired for their precision and meticulous attention to architectural and natural details. Hollar’s etchings provide invaluable visual records of 17th-century European life, architecture, and fashion.
